Myofascial release works the broader network of muscles that might be causing your pain. It tries to reduce tension throughout your body by releasing trigger points across a broad section of your muscular system.
What is Fascia and its function
Fascia is like a stocking round the body that supports structures in your body by wrapping around tissues by providing shape for muscles tendons and joints and encasing nerves. Fascia also helps with functional movement by reducing friction between structures.
Myofascial release
Myofascial Release is achieved by trigger pointing specific sensitive and tight points and or by applying deep pressure over the skin layer to stretch the underlying fascia and release the kinks surrounding the tissues.
The aim is to reduce and release tension at the trigger point sites and surrounding areas that are contributing to the tension pain or lack of mobility in the area to be addressed.
By releasing the Myofascia that feels stiff and tight it will then gradually feel pliable and elastic helping to increase mobility and blood flow to the surrounding tissues.
